Several memorials in Châu Thành lead to different chapters in the district’s history. These sites commemorate political and military events, preserve traces of former bases, or are dedicated to fallen soldiers. Those interested in this historical heritage will find not just individual monuments, but a range of sites, each with its own connection to the past.

Memorials and Historic Sites

The Châu Thành Party Committee Base is located in Trường Hamlet, in Hảo Đước Commune. It was recognized as a provincial historical and cultural monument in 1999. Its significance includes scientific research, military history studies, and the teaching of revolutionary traditions. The site thus connects historical remembrance with educational and research interests.

Another important stop is the Đồng Khởi Tua Hai Memorial. It commemorates the victory at Tua Hai on January 26, 1960, described as the beginning of the armed Đồng Khởi movement in southeastern Vietnam. The memorial is in Tua Hai Hamlet, in Đồng Khởi Commune, on National Highway 22B, about 7 kilometers northwest of Tây Ninh City. Its location and the date give the site a clear connection to the history of the movement and the region.

The Hoàng Lê Kha Memorial is also closely connected to a specific historical event. Hoàng Lê Kha was executed at the present-day site on March 12, 1960; the memorial was established there in 1995. It is located on the grounds of Hoàng Lê Kha Primary School in Suối Muồn Hamlet, in Thái Bình Commune. In 2007, it was designated a provincial historical and cultural monument.

Places of Remembrance and Preserved Traces

The Vành đai diệt Mỹ – Trảng Lớn Memorial was designated a national historical monument in 2013. Its protected area covers 10,426.9 square meters. The Trảng Lớn Memorial is at the junction of the Tua Hai–Đồng Khởi and Hương lộ 3 roads, in Quarter 1 of Châu Thành Town. This allows the site’s historical significance to be considered together with its location in the district.

At the Sivôtha site, both the history of a base and visible traces in the landscape take center stage. The Base of Overseas Unit I Sivôtha served as a rear base and as a place for the study and training of independently deployed armed work teams. It is located in Lưu Văn Vẳng Hamlet, in Hòa Hội Commune, and was designated a provincial historical and cultural monument in 1999. A regenerating forest with several layers of trees remains there. Other traces include bomb craters, a well, and a kitchen foundation; trenches and fortifications have partly eroded. The combination of a lush setting and historical remains distinguishes Sivôtha from memorials whose significance is primarily shaped by a particular event.

Giồng Nần is regarded as the first Party base in Tây Ninh Province and bears the name “Khu lưu niệm cơ sở Đảng đầu tiên tỉnh Tây Ninh tại Giồng Nần” (“Memorial Site of the First Party Base in Tây Ninh Province at Giồng Nần”). The memorial is at the Đường Xuồng landing in Long Đại Hamlet, in Long Vĩnh Commune. From Tây Ninh, the road route follows Provincial Road 786 and the Gò Chai Bridge, then a local paved road to Rạch Đường Xuồng. A boat journey goes from Bến Đình in Trường Tây via Rạch Giồng Nần; check in advance which departures are currently available.

In Thanh Phước, a memorial commemorates 21 soldiers of Regiment 2 of Division 9 who died in 1968 in the battle against the U.S. 25th Division. Families of fallen soldiers, organizations, and groups gather there for visits and commemorative activities. This site has a different focus from those centered on former bases or regional movements.

Choosing the Right Location for Your Trip

The memorials mentioned are spread across different hamlets and communes. If you want to include several sites in your trip, it’s best to choose your holiday rental based on the historical themes that interest you and check the accommodation’s location against the places you plan to visit. For Giồng Nần, a boat journey is also described in addition to the road route; for the other sites mentioned, the commune and hamlet details provide local directions.
