A coastal city with its own character

Phan Thiet combines a long coastline with a city centre crossed by the Cà Ty River. The city's coastline stretches for 57.40 kilometres. When choosing a holiday apartment for your stay, you might first consider whether the coastal landscape, the city's history or local traditions best match your travel interests. Phan Thiet offers different ways to explore each of these, from Đồi Dương Beach to historical and cultural sites.

Đồi Dương has long been a popular place for locals and tourists visiting Phan Thiet. The area is about 1,000 metres long and includes a park bordering the sea, with plenty of natural greenery and paved paths. The beach, park and paths give Đồi Dương its own character within the city. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, you can discover a different side of Phan Thiet here than at its historical memorial sites and museums.

The river divides the city centre

The Cà Ty flows through the city centre, dividing Phan Thiet into two riverbanks. The business district lies south of the river, while administrative and military facilities are located to the north. This layout can help you picture the city when choosing where to stay: the two sides serve different purposes.

Transport links are also part of the city's character. Phan Thiet is an important transport hub, with National Highways 1A, 55 and 28, the North–South Railway and a maritime route. National Highway 1A connects Phan Thiet to Ho Chi Minh City, 198 kilometres away. This makes Phan Thiet a place with road, rail and maritime connections; you can plan your specific journey around your route.

Memorial sites and Cham culture

Hồ Chí Minh lived and taught at the Dục Thanh School memorial site in 1910. Historical artefacts from nearly a century ago have been almost entirely preserved on the grounds. You can learn more about Hồ Chí Minh's life and work at the Hồ Chí Minh Museum in Phan Thiết. This branch of the Hồ Chí Minh Museum in Bình Thuận presents important stages of his life and work, as well as the key aspects of his time in Bình Thuận. The school and museum thus offer two different ways to explore this part of the city's history.

Another cultural highlight is the Pô Sha Nư Towers, also known as Tháp Phú Hải. This Cham temple complex is dedicated to the little fairies, the daughters of the Mother Goddess Pô Nagar. The Rija Nưga and Poh Mbăng Yang festivals are held each year at the foot of the towers during the first lunar month. Prayers are offered for rain and good fortune. The Katê festival tradition of the Cham community is also part of Phan Thiet; the Nghinh Ông festival tradition is associated with the Hoa community. These different traditions show the diversity of the city's cultural influences.

City life and ways to explore

A traditional spring boat race for the Kinh takes place on the Cà Ty River on the second day of Vietnamese Lunar New Year. It is a distinct event tied to the festival calendar, separate from the festivals held at the foot of the Pô Sha Nư Towers. Another attraction is Vạn Thủy Tú, where you can see a restored fish skeleton said to be the largest in Southeast Asia.

Tandem bicycles and motorbikes are available to rent for exploring Phan Thiet. Visitors can also explore the city by tourist cycle rickshaw. These options offer different ways to get around, allowing you to explore the city according to your preferences. If you would like to discover more places, you can also find La Gi and Ke Ga here.
