Ban Kho combines waterside landscapes with living traditions. The subdistrict is home to Huai Ta Poe Waterfall and Huai Ta Poe Reservoir in Ban Ta Poe, Village 8; in Ban Khae, Phu Thai culture, crafts and shared meals take centre stage. As you plan your trip, you can consider whether you are mainly looking for nature and scenic views or cultural experiences, then tailor your holiday rental search to the activities that interest you.

Huai Ta Poe Waterfall: a shady setting and shallow water

Huai Ta Poe Waterfall is in Ban Ta Poe, Village 8, in Ban Kho Subdistrict. The water is shallow, and the surroundings are described as shady and peaceful. The waterfall flows year-round, though less water is present in the dry season. If you make water and nature your focus, you will find a different experience here from the reservoir’s viewpoints: the waterfall and its tranquil surroundings take centre stage.

From the road towards Ban Ta Poe, turn right before the bridge at the village entrance, then follow a gravel road for about 300 metres to the waterfall. There is also an access road about 300 metres long from the paved Ban Non Sombun–Ban Ta Poe road; this route is unpaved. Check local road conditions before setting out, as they may change.

At Huai Ta Poe Reservoir: views and scenery

Huai Ta Poe Reservoir is also in Ban Ta Poe, Village 8, in Ban Kho Subdistrict. Several viewpoints are located along the crest of the dam and on the nearby shore. The surrounding area also features islands, rapids and rock formations. Morning mist can also shape the scenery. These features make the reservoir a distinct landscape attraction, different from the waterfall’s shady setting.

At Huai Ta Poe Reservoir, on the side of the Forest Regeneration and Research Centre, a campsite and several viewpoints are listed. The listed facilities also include a reception building, kitchen, toilets, showers, lighting, tables, chairs and parking. The reservoir is part of the Royal-initiated Development Project for the Upper Huai Bang Sai Basin. Contact the centre before your visit to ask about current visitor arrangements and operating conditions.

Phu Thai traditions in Ban Khae

Ban Khae is a Phu Thai village that preserves traditional customs. At Ban Khae OTOP Nawatwithi Village, visitors can enjoy a range of cultural experiences: they are welcomed by a procession accompanied by Phu Thai drums and traditional dances. Other highlights include Phu Thai folk arts, folk music and traditional clothing. A Bai Si Su Khwan blessing ceremony is also performed.

The programme also includes demonstrations of cotton weaving and reed hat weaving. A shared Pha Laeng meal featuring seasonal local dishes rounds out the cultural experience. If a particular performance or meal is important to your plans, check in advance when it is offered. That way, you can plan around these experiences without assuming they are always available.

Another cultural landmark is Phra Mahathat Chedi Si Suriya Mongkhon. The chedi is located at the forest monastery for practice and meditation in Ban Khae cemetery and is revered by the residents of Ban Khae.

Which experiences would you like to shape your stay?

When choosing a holiday rental in Ban Kho, it can help to first decide what you want to focus on: the waterfall and reservoir offer nature, water and scenic views; Ban Khae brings Phu Thai traditions, crafts and seasonal local food into the picture. This comparison offers a practical starting point for planning your trip without turning the different experiences into a fixed itinerary. Consider which experiences matter most to you, and use that to guide your choice of where to stay.
