Migdal haEmek combines green spaces and recreational areas with traces of settlement dating back far into the past. The Cyclamen Trail runs through a wooded area with a large concentration of cyclamens; Rabin Park focuses on play, sports and recreation. There is also the Archaeological Garden between two ancient settlement sites and a central memorial site. This gives you different options when planning your trip—from seasonal nature watching to history and remembrance.

Parks and Picnic Areas

Rabin Park, also known as the Enchanted Forest, offers extensive lawns, playground equipment, sports courts and a small amphitheatre. The grounds also include fitness equipment, garden furniture, plantings and paths. Two car parks are located at opposite ends of the park; there is also an observation tower. The different areas give you a clear picture of the park’s facilities.

A 2015 KKL-JNF description lists picnic tables, fitness equipment and a pétanque court at the Balfour picnic area. It describes the paths and picnic tables as accessible; confirm access arrangements before your visit. The area has old pines as well as Tabor oaks, Palestine elms, carob trees, hawthorns, almond, fig and mulberry trees. The place is shaped not only by its picnic and exercise facilities, but also by its varied tree plantings.

Cyclamens and Seasonal Nature

The Cyclamen Trail runs through a KKL-JNF woodland with a large concentration of cyclamens. The KKL-JNF description from 2015 recommends visiting between December and February. If cyclamens are important to your trip, this timing is a specific point of reference for planning. This seasonal aspect sets the trail apart from the parks described above.

Ancient Settlement Sites and Remembrance

The Archaeological Garden is located on a slope between the ancient settlement sites of Ein Hilo and Mujaydil. A description from 2015 places the garden there. Ein Hilo was settled from the Intermediate Bronze Age through the time of the Kings of Israel, dated to 2200–1000 BCE. Settlement at Mujaydil began in the Persian period, dated to 500 BCE, and continues to the present day. The two sites therefore represent different historical periods.

In the centre of Migdal haEmek, the city’s fallen are commemorated for all of Israel’s wars. Beit Yad LaBanim has a circular memorial room bearing the names of the fallen and a stone monument on which an eternal flame burns. Access is generally possible; the gate is occasionally locked, so entry must be arranged in advance with the memorial centre.
