Discover Yiftaẖ through its sweeping views, mountain road and nearby route through rocky gorges. At the מצפור יפתח (Yiftah Lookout), a practical place to stop meets a scenic viewpoint: tables stand in the shade of natural forest vegetation beside the parking area. From here, views stretch across the Hula Valley, the Golan Heights and Mount Hermon. The parking area is east of the road, opposite the entrance to Kibbutz Yiftah.

Scenic Road and Viewpoints

The scenic road through the Naftali Mountains is about 12 kilometres long. It runs at the foot of the Ramat Nimra cliffs and climbs from Kfar Giladi to Kibbutz Yiftah. The route passes through Yiftah and by the Crusader fortress of Hunin, ending at Kibbutz Misgav Am. The road thus brings together several distinct impressions: the ascent into the mountains, the cliffs and a historic fortress along the way. If you plan to travel this route, check for current notices about possible closures.

The access route can also help with orientation: about one kilometre north of Yiftah, a road branches off to the scenic road. You can drive down it in a private car to Kiryat Shmona or Kfar Giladi. The road description and the viewpoint are two different planning reference points: the lookout offers a specific place to stop, while the scenic road describes a longer route through the mountain landscape.

On Foot Through the Yiftah Fissures

About two kilometres north of Kibbutz Yiftah, the route through נקיקי יפתח (Yiftah Fissures) lies in Upper Galilee and the Naftali Mountains. It can be reached via Route 886, on the stretch between Yiftah and Menara. The descent involves rocky steps and ladders; the route presents a mild challenge. It is not accessible and is unsuitable for strollers and dogs. Check the current trail conditions before your visit.

Allow about 30 to 60 minutes for the short route through the Fissures. How long you take depends on your walking pace, breaks and time spent at viewpoints. If you have more time for a hike, you can continue from there towards the Ein Ouzim Nature Reserve. This longer route is listed as taking about four hours. The two time estimates therefore refer to different plans: a short circuit through the rocky gorges or a longer continuation towards Ein Ouzim. Check current trail conditions before every outing.

Local Refreshments and Choosing Your Holiday Apartment

The Galiki coffee cart is located at the entrance to Kibbutz Yiftah. Its menu includes bread and sweet pastries from a baker in the kibbutz, vegetables from the kibbutz fields and several types of cheese from its dairy. Offerings and opening hours may change, so check the latest information before planning a stop. The products described also offer a concrete glimpse of food from the kibbutz, without requiring you to plan a longer hike.

When looking for a holiday apartment in Yiftaẖ, it helps to first consider the outings you have planned: do you mainly want to experience the scenic road and viewpoint, or should a hike through the Fissures be the focus of your day? The short route requires a different time slot from the roughly four-hour continuation towards Ein Ouzim. Trail restrictions are also a relevant planning consideration if you are travelling with a stroller or a dog. This way, you can plan your stay around the landscape experiences that matter most to your trip.
