Community rituals in Rangdu include Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning and Ider Desa. Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning combines giving thanks for abundant harvests with a procession and a communal closing. Another tradition, Ider Desa, is a walking tour around the village. Those considering a stay in Rangdu will find a cultural focus here; the wider Subang destination also offers other distinct cultural and nature experiences.

Rituals and Community in Rangdu

Kirab Tumpeng Sega Kuning is part of the Mapag Sri ritual. It expresses the local community’s collective gratitude to God for abundant harvests and the village’s blessings. The annual Kirab took place in Rangdu on 6 May 2026. During the procession, the route led from the village head’s home to Pendopo Kantor Desa Rangdu, the centre of the ceremony. To conclude the thanksgiving celebration, the Rangdu village administration held a Wayang Kulit performance. Thus, the procession, communal gratitude and performance are all part of this celebration. If you plan to tie a trip to a festival, check a future date in advance.

Ider Desa, also known as Ider Bumi, differs from the Kirab, which has a set date: it is a walking tour around Rangdu held regularly every Friday Kliwon. Before the walk, residents usually gather at the village head’s home for a Musyawarah hulu. The sequence of gathering and walking shows how the village community prepares for the ritual. Taken together, the two traditions reveal different aspects of community life: giving thanks for the harvest at the Kirab and the regularly recurring walk at Ider Desa.

Other Cultural and Nature Destinations in the Wider Subang Destination

Those wishing to include other cultural experiences in their trip alongside Rangdu’s village traditions can consider the Museum Kabupaten Subang. Study visits are held there, and museum guides provide detailed information about historical objects. The museum also has a theatre hall dedicated to presenting the culture and history of Kabupaten Subang, as well as a 3D collection. This offers a different focus from the rituals in Rangdu: here, the emphasis is on historical objects, cultural interpretation and the history of the regency.

The nature destinations in the wider Subang destination also offer different experiences. Tangkuban Perahu is an active mountain with a series of craters. The distance from the entrance to the crater area is about 4 kilometres; facilities mentioned there include parking, souvenir shops, food and drink outlets, pavilions and toilets. Curug Cijalu is set amid mountains, rice fields, tea gardens and flowing water. Its facilities include a restaurant, a mosque, a swimming pool, a playground and a car park. Before visiting, check which facilities you need for your plans.

Curug Cileat offers a different landscape: the waterfall is about 100 metres high and can be reached by two routes, one through densely vegetated forest and the other through rice fields. The different surroundings along the routes are a practical point of comparison when choosing. Those more interested in camping and panoramas can find both at Bumi Perkemahan Pamoyanan. The campsite is at an altitude of about 1,000 metres; its described views include panoramas of sunrise and clouds.

When choosing a holiday rental in Rangdu, it helps to first decide what you want to focus on: should the local rituals shape your stay, or would you also like to include selected cultural and nature destinations in the wider Subang destination? This can help you tailor your search for suitable accommodation to the places you actually want to include in your plans.
