Kota Batu brings together a wide range of ideas for day trips: theme parks focus on rides, animals and educational attractions, while museums explore transport or wildlife. There are also natural attractions in the mountains and experiences in orchards. When choosing a holiday rental in Kota Batu, it helps to first consider which of these sides of the destination will appeal most to your family.

Theme parks with different focuses

Jawa Timur Park is a 22-hectare theme park in Batu, divided into Jatim Park 1, Jatim Park 2 and Jatim Park 3. Jatim Park 1 offers more than 50 rides for visitors of all ages. If rides are what you are mainly looking for on a day trip, this is where the focus lies. Selecta offers something different: this attraction in Tulungrejo village, Bumiaji District, Kota Batu, is known as a family recreation destination. These differences can help you choose outings based on your family’s interests, rather than treating all the attractions as similar parks.

Jatim Park 2 combines a zoo with an Animal Museum. The zoo is home to various endangered animal species. The Animal Museum’s exhibits include rare replicas of Stegosaurus and Apatosaurus. The complex also includes the Museum Satwa Jawa Timur Park 2: dioramas, replicas and explanatory information introduce visitors to animal biology, evolution and the ways of life of animals from different habitats around the world. The museum also displays preserved wild animals and replicas of prehistoric animals from around the world. Alongside its zoo, Jatim Park 2 therefore focuses on wildlife and prehistory.

Transport, nature and views

Museum Angkut is a transport museum in Batu City, Jawa Timur. It covers land, sea and air transport from different periods and countries. It also serves as a place for education and recreation, sharing knowledge about transport science and technology. This offers a different experience from the parks: the focus here is on means of transport and their context, rather than rides or animal exhibits.

If you are looking for a nature or viewpoint experience, you could consider two different destinations. Wana Wisata Coba Rais in Oro-Oro Ombo, Batu City, is a destination for nature adventure tourism. Paralayang Batu is located on Gunung Banyak in Songgokerto, Kota Batu, Jawa Timur, and offers tandem flights with an instructor. From the launch site on Gunung Banyak, visitors can see Kota Batu, residential areas, valleys and the surrounding mountains. The views and tandem flights are two specific aspects of this place; your choice depends on whether you would rather focus on the view from the launch site or the flight experience.

Orchard experiences

Harvesting is another possible day-trip activity in Kota Batu. Apple-picking tours are offered at apple orchards. Participants can eat as many apples as they like in the orchard and buy apples to take home for an additional fee. Desa Wisata Petik Strawberry is located in Pandanrejo village, Bumiaji District, Kota Batu, and offers strawberry picking. The two activities therefore differ in the fruit and the experience described: eating apples on site is part of the apple tours, while strawberry picking is the main activity in Pandanrejo.

A single accommodation does not need to cater to all your interests; first, consider which outings you want to shape your trip. You can also explore Junrejo.
