Gajraula combines an important role in the railway network with religious and cultural points of interest in the surrounding area. The town is a Northern Railway junction; Brajghat Dham is on the banks of the Ganges, 12 km away, and the Tigri Ganga Mela is one of the area’s annual festivals. These offer different starting points for planning your trip: travelling via the railway junction, visiting a place by the river and attending a religious cultural event held on a set date. If you are looking for a holiday rental, you can first decide which of these aspects you want to shape your stay most.

Travelling via the railway junction

Gajraula is a Northern Railway junction; thousands of passengers travel from there every day to destinations including Delhi, Moradabad, Lucknow, Dehradun, Najibabad, Saharanpur and Haridwar. Passenger numbers and the destinations listed may change. Only a limited number of trains stop in Gajraula, and many passengers use state-run intercity buses. The railway connection is therefore a helpful starting point for your planning, but it does not replace checking your specific travel dates.

Places along the Ganges and a festival date

Brajghat Dham is on the banks of the Ganges, 12 km from Gajraula. The Tigri Ganga Mela offers a different focus: this annual religious and cultural festival takes place on the banks of the Ganges in the village of Tigri in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district. It is held on Kartik Purnima. These two Ganges-related attractions appeal to different interests: Brajghat Dham is defined by its riverside location and distance from Gajraula, while Tigri is associated with a recurring festival tradition. If the Mela is to shape your stay, plan your dates around Kartik Purnima and check the dates for the year you plan to travel.

The history of a temple in Gajraula

Gajraula itself also has a cultural point of interest: the Shri Ram Temple is located in Nai Pura on the Delhi–Lucknow Highway. A report published on 14 January 2024 dates the temple’s design to February 1989 and names C. B. Sompura as its designer. This historical detail about the design offers a different focus from the annual festival in Tigri: here, the focus is on the design of a temple in the town, while there it is on the religious and cultural significance of a particular festival date. These offer different themes around which you can shape your interest in the region.

Choose the focus of your stay

When looking for a holiday rental, it helps to put your travel interests in a sensible order. First, work out whether you will arrive by train or state-run intercity bus, and whether the Tigri Ganga Mela determines a particular period for your trip. Then consider whether Gajraula and the Shri Ram Temple, Brajghat Dham on the Ganges or the festival tradition in Tigri should be the cultural focus of your trip. This decision brings together practical questions about transport and travel dates with the places and themes that interest you most.
