Amravati combines notable places within the city with cultural and natural attractions across the wider destination. A historic temple, hills and lakes give the city a distinct character, while the wider region adds mountain landscapes, safaris and coffee plantations. When planning your holiday apartment stay, it is therefore worth first considering whether you mainly want to explore life in Amravati or also include places such as Melghat and Chikhaldara.

Hills, Temples and City History

Amravati lies 340 metres above sea level. Within the city, Maltekdi rises as a hill about 60 metres high. A statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj stands at its summit. Together with the historic Amba Devi Temple, which stands on a hill in Amravati and is one of the city’s most significant landmarks, these places shape the image of a city where landscape and culture sit side by side.

The history of Shri Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal is another notable local fact: Anant Krishna Vaidya and Ambadas Krishna Vaidya founded it in 1914. If you are interested in Amravati’s cultural history, this offers another concrete subject to explore alongside the temple and trace the city’s development.

Lakes and Bodies of Water

Chhatri Talao and Wadali Talao, the two lakes mentioned here, lie in the eastern part of Amravati. Chhatri Talao is a historic heritage site in Amravati with origins in the 18th century. Boat rides are available on the lake, and both parts can be navigated by boat. During your stay, you can therefore choose between exploring the lakes in the eastern part of the city and taking a cultural look at Chatri Talao in the Amravati destination.

The places described offer different starting points for planning your day: a temple and city history on the one hand, hills and bodies of water on the other. Choose your accommodation based on which of these themes is most important for your trip. Check the specific features of individual accommodations separately in their respective listings.

Nature and Excursions Across the Wider Amravati Destination

Beyond the immediate focus on the city, Melghat offers a different perspective on the landscape. Melghat Tiger Reserve lies in the Satpura Range and is home to more than 1,000 plant species. The Melghat area was declared a tiger reserve in 1974. Wildlife safaris are available in the reserve, where visitors may spot tigers, leopards, sloth bears and wild dogs, among other animals. Gawilgadh Fort is also a cultural attraction in the Amravati destination: the Central Archaeological Survey of India has designated it a heritage site of particular significance.

Chikhaldara is a hill station in Amravati district and adds hiking and trekking to this selection. It is considered the only coffee-growing region in Maharashtra; visitors can tour coffee plantations and sample coffee there. The places described therefore offer different highlights: Amravati is known, among other things, for its temples, city history and lakes, while Melghat and Chikhaldara offer nature and outdoor activities. Which places you include in your trip depends on which of these interests you want to combine.

Getting There and Planning Your Accommodation

Melghat can be reached by road, rail and air; the nearest airport is Nagpur. If travelling to Semadoh, you can get off at Badnera Junction railway station. The station is 10 kilometres from Amravati, on the Mumbai–Nagpur–Kolkata route. Check connections before travelling, especially if your plans are focused on a particular place in the wider destination.

The Forest Jungle Camp is located in Semadoh, on the banks of the Sipna River. It has four dormitories with a total capacity of 60 people and ten cottages with a total capacity of 20 people. There is also a museum, in addition to the cafeteria.

If you are looking for a holiday apartment in Amravati, deciding between exploring the city and planning wider excursions can be a useful starting point. Compare your accommodation options with the places you actually want to visit, and check the details of each listing that are relevant to your trip.
