Jeghegnadsor: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Transcaucasian Trail reaches the centre of Yeghegnadzor after passing through Vernashen and Gladzor. From the centre, it continues southwest towards the Arpa Protected Landscape Visitor Centre and extends to its gates, where there is a small café. Culture

The Yeghegnadzor Gallery is a branch of the National Gallery at 1 Momik Street and was founded in 1978. It regularly organises exhibitions of Armenian visual art. Momik City Park is also home to a Bronze Age vishap stone: the 2.70-metre-high prehistoric monolith was moved there in 1984 from near the Orbelian Caravanserai at the Selim Pass.

The Yeghegnadzor Geological Museum preserves more than 12,000 artefacts excavated in Vayots Dzor dating from the 10th to the 17th century. The exhibition also includes an ethnographic presentation and a numismatic collection of coins and paper money dating back to the 1st century. The Yeghegnadzor Regional Museum displays archaeology, ethnography, numismatics, sculpture, nature and other collections. These include material on the history, everyday life, customs and beliefs of the 17th to the 20th century.

Hiking

Nearby, the route continues from Yeghegnadzor to the historic Dadal Bridge from the time of the Silk Road, which spans the Arpa River. Hikers can replenish their supplies in Yeghegnadzor; there are supermarkets there serving the route of the Transcaucasian Trail. The town also has a medical centre on the Vayots Dzor section of the Transcaucasian Trail.

Yeghegnadzor has pharmacies, while the villages along the Transcaucasian Trail route have no pharmacies.

Nature

The Arpa Environmental Foundation is headquartered in Yeghegnadzor and uses its office there as a visitor contact point for the Arpa Protected Landscape. The foundation offers wildlife observation tours in specially protected natural areas, where experienced rangers can track bezoar goats.

Cuisine

Local specialities include a Yeghegnadzor version of Masrapur. This is a rosehip soup with semolina, olive oil, onions, apricots, strawberries and dry lavash.
