Culture

At the southern edge of Getamej, on the left bank of the Hrazdan, stands a fortress dated to the 10th–9th century BC. A second fortress is recorded in the southern part of Getamej on a headland and is dated to the 2nd–1st millennium BC.

There are two immovable monuments of history and culture in the Getamej municipality. In addition, a memorial monument dating from 1984 commemorates the Second World War.

The church known as Ketron dates from the 14th century. It is designated as a monument of republican significance and has been included on the state list of non-alienable monuments. Since 2010, it has also been on the list of the most endangered monuments in Kotayk. The roof of the church is described as having almost completely collapsed.

Nature

The area around Getamej is described as having orchards below rocky cliffs and gorges along the Hrazdan. Near the settlement, to the northwest, lie the archaeological remains known as Getamej 2. These include scattered megalithic structures, ruins on the riverbank, ancient burials, and remains that probably date from the Bronze Age.

Routes

The road between Ptghni and Getamej includes a 1.7-kilometre paved section that was completed in 2016. Some roads in Getamej become difficult to drive on in snowy winter conditions, while snow removal enables vehicles to continue their journey.

On one described route towards Getamej, the village was reached after approximately 40 minutes of brisk walking. Another route through Getamej included gathering rose hips, observing rosehip bushes, and visiting a small roadside chapel.
