Anconcito can be explored through a wide variety of attractions: natural pools formed by waves in ocean rock, pale cream-colored sand, rock formations that serve as viewpoints, and a fishing port. Bosque Palo Santo adds several viewpoints, as well as hiking and cycling; surfing and bodyboarding are popular activities at Playa la Bramona. Local celebrations also give the town a special calendar. When looking for a holiday rental, you can first consider whether you want to plan your trip around the coast, outdoor activities, or a festival date.

Coastline Between the Tides and Pale Sand

At Playa Punta de los Acantilados, natural pools formed by waves in the ocean rock become visible at low tide. The changing tides are part of the appeal here: the pools appear when the tide is low. If you plan to visit this beach, check the local tide information beforehand. Playa la Samba offers a different impression: its rock formation resembles a viewpoint, and it also has pale cream-colored sand. So, at one beach, the focus is on the rock pools visible at low tide, while at the other, it is the combination of rock formations and light-colored sand.

Viewpoints and Outdoor Activities

Playa la Bramona is located in Barrio Manabí in the Anconcito parish and is considered a suitable place for surfing and bodyboarding. Its features include rocky areas and saltwater pools. Check local conditions before swimming or surfing. Bosque Palo Santo has several viewpoints overlooking the fishing port and the beaches of Ancón. Hiking and cycling are also possible activities there. This makes the forest a distinct destination for anyone who wants to combine views and exercise.

The Mirador Encantado in Barrio Manabí offers another photo opportunity: you can take pictures in front of the town's signs, with boats in the background. This differs from the views in Bosque Palo Santo and gives you another way to include Anconcito's viewpoints in your travel plans.

Festivals, Church and Fishing Port

During the annual May celebrations in honor of the Virgen del Pescador, a boat carrying the image of the Virgin leads the way out to sea, followed by a procession of decorated boats. A public dance festival then takes place at the fishing port. Another fixed date is Anconcito's Fiestas de Parroquialización on December 18. These include, among other events, bicycle races and a civic parade of students. The occasions are distinct: the sea procession is the main event in May, while races and a parade are part of the December program. If you want to plan your trip around one of the celebrations, check the local program beforehand.

Iglesia San Miguel de Arcángel also brings together religious life and sea views: it is the largest church in the Anconcito parish and the one most frequently used by worshippers. Outside stands a statue of a female figure holding a child; a viewpoint overlooking the sea is located near the church. Another aspect of the town is Anconcito's fishing port, which has services needed for fishing operations.

Plan Your Stay Around What Matters to You

These differences can help guide your choice of holiday rental: if you visit the pools at Playa Punta de los Acantilados, low tide matters; if you want to experience one of the celebrations, consider May or December 18. Hiking and cycling offer a different focus from coastal experiences and point to Bosque Palo Santo.
