Culture and nature in Villavicencio

Parque Agroecológico Merecure is located in Villavicencio at kilometer 47 of the road to Puerto López. Covering 600 hectares, or six square kilometers, it offers tourists opportunities for relaxation and recreation, as well as direct contact with nature. Parque Las Malocas has a different focus: its various themed settings introduce the culture of the eastern Llanos, including its myths and ways of life. Routes and birdwatching

The three routes differ in length and course. Ruta Cristo Rey is 1,255 meters long, Ruta Lodoterapia measures five kilometers, and Ruta Vereda El Carmen is 9,533 meters long. From shortest to longest, the routes are therefore Cristo Rey, Lodoterapia and El Carmen.

Ruta Cristo Rey begins at Parque Infantil in central Villavicencio. It follows stone steps to the Monumento a Cristo Rey, then passes the Concha Acústica Arnulfo Briceño and returns to the city center via a paved road.

Ruta Vereda El Carmen passes under the road to Bogotá to reach the school in Vereda del Carmen, continues to Vereda Samaria, then descends to Buenavista along the old road to Bogotá.

Ruta Lodoterapia runs through Vereda Palmichal on the left bank of Quebrada La Argentina and leads to Quebrada La Colorada. At the destination, sediment from a landslide that occurred more than ten years earlier is described as ideal for a therapeutic mud bath. Check current trail conditions and access before visiting.

Birdwatching is also among the nature-related activities mentioned: in preparation for Global Big Day 2026, Villavicencio planned 16 routes distributed across various corregimientos.
