The Playas de bocas de la Enea shape Tigrera’s coastline with a broad, natural beach. It stretches for more than ten kilometers, from the mouth of La Enea in the Río Tapiasm delta to the boundary of the Santuario de Flora y fauna de los Flamencos.

Expanse and geographical reference points

Width and length describe different characteristics of the same coastal area: its width defines the beach’s character, while its length of more than ten kilometers conveys the scale of its extent. The endpoints also provide orientation. On one side is the mouth of La Enea in the delta; on the other is the boundary of the named Santuario. This brings together two distinct reference points in a geographical description—a delta and the edge of a protected area. This combination is informative when choosing a destination if you are especially interested in expansive natural landscapes. The beach can thus be understood as a clearly described stretch of coast spanning a considerable distance. Check current visitor access in advance if you are planning a specific visit.

Protected-area status in the tourism plan

At the time of the 2013–2022 tourism plan, Playas de bocas de la Enea was a civil society nature reserve managed by Fundación Iguaraya. This time-specific detail adds an administrative reference to the description of the landscape: in the plan at the time, both the coast and its management were part of how the place was classified. Two different ways of finding your bearings are therefore presented side by side—the beach’s geographical features and its protected-area and administrative status during the planning period. If you are interested in the historical context as well as the landscape, this protected-area status offers another facet of Tigrera.

A regional perspective on sales and everyday life

In the wider region around Riohacha, a different focus emerges. A report dated March 11, 2026, stated that by then 13 sales stands had been built in the rural area of Riohacha along a stretch of the “Francisco el Hombre” route. They were intended to give candy vendors better conditions for selling their products and protection from sun and rain. This is not about the shape of the coastline, but about places to sell and the conditions for vendors. The example draws attention to a practical concern for rural sales and adds a distinct regional context to the subject of the landscape.

Tigrera as a vacation-rental destination

These are different considerations when choosing a trip: the coastal landscape defines the theme of Tigrera, while the sales stands belong to Riohacha’s rural regional surroundings. If your main interest is exploring the coast, include Tigrera in your search for a vacation rental.
