Discover Saint-Pierre on walks through a variety of natural landscapes and along notable landmarks. Cultural attractions add a different dimension. Whether you want to spend time outdoors or also make room for culture, the trails and places described here offer practical ideas for planning your stay.

Walks between the coast, forest and ponds

The walk to Cap au Diable begins at the Étang Frecker car park. From there, the Sentier de l’Anse à Henry leads towards Étang du Cap au Diable. There are two options for the return journey: via the Sentier de l’Anse à Dinan, or via Étang du Télégraphe to the lieu-dit « tournant de l’Anse à Pierre » or the Étang Thélot car park. This route therefore offers a choice of return paths. Check local conditions before setting out.

Another walk starts at the viewpoint on Route de l’Anse à Pierre, leads to Étang du Télégraphe and returns to the Étang Thélot car park via Étang du Trépied. The Sentier de l’Anse à Henry is marked in yellow and green and has benches. Markings and facilities may change, so check locally before relying on them.

At Anse à Dinan, the walk passes through marshland, subarctic grasslands and forest—three natural environments typical of the archipelago. Marine mammals may be spotted from the shore, but sightings are not guaranteed. In Vallée des 7 étangs, the trail runs through wooded areas where birds can be observed. At the end of the walk, you can enjoy a view of Île-aux-Marins.

The Le Diamant circular walk passes Pointe du Diamant and Savoyard Beach. It can be walked in either direction; the preferred direction may depend on the wind. The landmarks and landscapes mentioned above are particularly useful when choosing between walks: each offers a different selection of places and natural environments to experience along the way.

Culture and experiences in Saint-Pierre

Micro-Folie Saint-Pierre combines virtual experiences with a programme of stage events. 360-degree headsets are available for virtual reality. The stage programme includes concerts, talks and performances by local and visiting artists, as well as occasional events and exhibitions. Self-guided visits to the four areas are possible two days a week. Check the current operating details before visiting.

Visitors must be at least 12 years old to visit Micro-Folie without an accompanying adult. Visitors aged 13 and over may use the virtual reality area without adult supervision. These age limits are subject to the operator’s rules. If you are planning a visit with teenagers, note that the VR area has its own age limit.

Musée Héritage is housed in a 200-year-old building in the centre of Saint-Pierre. The historic building offers a distinctive contrast to the walks and the contemporary programme at Micro-Folie. On the island of Saint-Pierre, you can also explore the natural surroundings on horseback; the local riding club will look after you. Depending on the weather, rides may be postponed, cancelled or moved to riding lessons in the indoor arena.

Choose the right base for your trip

If you are mainly planning walks, the starting points, return routes and landscapes can help guide your search for a holiday rental. For a culture-focused stay, also add Micro-Folie or Musée Héritage to your personal list. Compare the specific location of a property with the places that matter to your plans, and allow for weather-related changes to horse-riding activities. This will help you choose a base that suits the experiences you are most interested in enjoying in Saint-Pierre.
