On Mana Island, Fijian culture and marine experiences come together in different ways: At the resort, Meke performances and traditional arts and crafts are part of the cultural offering, while visitors can snorkel from the shore just offshore. A dive site west of the island also offers a unique view of the underwater world. Which of these aspects interests you most can shape your travel plans.

Fijian culture and special places

Mana Island Resort promotes Fijian culture through Meke performances and presentations of traditional art and crafts. Weaving on the island is also among the resort’s cultural experiences. The cultural offering therefore encompasses both performances and handicrafts. If you are interested in local traditions as well as the sea and scenery, you can take these impressions into account when planning your trip.

There are also two stone cairns on Mana. One stands in the garden courtyard in the resort’s hotel area, and the other is west of the central activity area. A legend of Mana Island identifies Manamanaedina as the island’s legendary god. The two cairns and the legendary figure thus represent different facets of the island: visible stone landmarks on the one hand, and a legend associated with Mana on the other.

Tropical scenery, beach and reef

Mana Island Resort & Spa covers 120 hectares of tropical landscape. It is surrounded by turquoise waters, vibrant coral reefs, and white-sand beaches. The resort is in the heart of the Mamanuca Islands. It is also associated with marine protected areas or marine reserves. This landscape forms the resort’s natural setting; the experiences that follow differ according to whether you want to snorkel from the beach or explore a nearby dive site.

Visitors can snorkel directly from the shore in front of Mana Island’s beach. They may see parrotfish, sea turtles, and colourful corals. Patch Reef Supermarket Reef is located west of Mana Island, about 1 km from the main reef. It is a tourist SCUBA diving site where encounters with grey reef sharks, blacktip reef sharks, and whitetip reef sharks occur regularly. Snorkelling from the shore and diving at this reef are different ways to include the underwater world in your travel plans.

Dining and a place by the sea

The Mamanuca Restaurant offers a buffet experience with live cooking stations that change daily. Dishes are prepared right in front of guests. This describes a dining option where the preparation is part of the restaurant experience. Mana Island Resort also has a private seaside chapel. It is set in tropical gardens and overlooks the ocean. The restaurant and chapel complement the natural and cultural experiences with two other distinct aspects of the resort.

Getting there and planning your trip

Mana Island Resort can be reached by ferry, water taxi, seaplane, or helicopter. When planning your trip, you can consider these different ways of getting there alongside the experiences on the island.
