Tlapacoyan combines religious festival traditions with nearby nature and archaeological destinations. In town, the parish church of La Asunción de María Santísima and El Cerrito Church provide specific cultural points of interest; nearby, you’ll also find the Río Filobobos, archaeological sites and a waterfall. When looking for a holiday rental, you can first decide what you want your trip to focus on: religious traditions and local history, or nearby nature and archaeological destinations.

Church Festivals and Local History

The parish church in Tlapacoyan is named La Asunción de María Santísima; its patronal feast is celebrated on 15 August. Santiago el Mayor is Tlapacoyan’s patron saint, and his feast is celebrated on 25 July. These are two church observances, each with its own calendar date. If you’d like to plan your trip around either tradition, check the respective dates in advance. The names refer to different observances: the patronal feast belongs to the parish church, while 25 July is associated with the feast of the patron saint.

Construction work on El Cerrito Church was completed on 12 December 1956. Alongside the festival dates, this precisely dated construction completion is another point of local interest.
