The Islas Marietas consist of two islands. There, you can watch birds and see coral reefs. Humpback whales come to Bahía de Banderas every year to give birth: from December to March, they stay in the bay with their calves. You can also choose your activities on the water based on your interests. At the beaches of San Pancho, you can surf, paddle, snorkel, and dive. However, some beaches along Bahía de Banderas are accessible only by boat or via a roughly half-hour walk through the jungle. Coastal Towns with Their Own Character

Sayulita was a fishing village and is a Pueblo Mágico. Its attractions include art galleries, restaurants, bars, and a beach. San Pancho offers a different mix: alongside its water sports, it is home to Circo de los Niños, which presents unique circus productions, and La Bodega Teatro, a multidisciplinary arts center with performances and events. Circo de los Niños is located at Avenida Tercer Mundo No. 15. Extraordinary acrylic paintings of colorful personalities can be found scattered across well-known landscapes in the region.

Arts and crafts and clothing shape local commerce in Bucerías. La Cruz de Huanacaxtle offers dozens of local restaurants and a Sunday market where you can enjoy local products. The Marina Riviera Nayarit is also located there: it welcomes arrivals by motor yacht or sailboat and offers modern nautical facilities and services. Punta Mita, in turn, is known for the wide range of dining options at the restaurants and hotels in the area, including the catch of the day and Nayarit seafood cuisine. These differences give you concrete points of reference if you want to prioritize art and culture, market visits, dining, or activities on the water when choosing your vacation rental.

Activities Away from the Water and Getting There

Golf is also available in Bahía de Banderas. Designed by Greg Norman, Higuera Golf Club features seven links-style holes, eight more in pristine jungle, and two signature holes on the Pacific beaches. Facilities include a driving range and golf cart and equipment rentals. El Nayar Vidanta Golf Course features seven lakes and 49 sand bunkers. The courses described therefore differ in their specific landscape and course features.

Federal Highway 200 is the main transport link for getting around the municipality. Bahía de Banderas can also be reached by road from Tepic or Guadalajara; the stated driving time is three to five hours, depending on traffic. Puerto Vallarta International Airport is another option for getting there.
