Treasure Beach is a coastal fishing village. A six-mile stretch of coastline includes private coves and rocky shores. The four main coves are Billy’s Bay, Calabash Bay, Great Bay and Frenchman’s Bay; together, they extend over several miles. The six miles refer to the stretch of coastline, while the several miles refer to the combined extent of the four coves. If you’re looking for a holiday rental, you can consider whether the varied coastal scenery or the character of the fishing village is more important for your trip.

Beaches and Surf

At Billy’s Bay Beach, the eastern section is designated for swimming and the western section for fishing. At the four public beaches, waves can range from six inches to six feet high, depending on sea conditions and the time of year. While Billy’s Bay clearly designates the use of its two beach sections, wave heights at the public beaches vary with the season and sea conditions. So, when planning your time by the sea, beach use and changing surf are two separate considerations. Six inches is about 15 centimetres, and six feet is about 1.83 metres. These conversions make the difference between the two limits easier to picture and compare with familiar measurements.

Turtles by Season

Nature watching also has a seasonal aspect. Most turtles come ashore to nest from June to August. The hatchlings emerge from the eggs after about two months; hatching season runs from August to the end of October, though the timing can vary. Turtles are also occasionally seen at other times of year. The two time periods overlap in August: the nesting season continues into that month, while hatching season begins. If you’re interested in turtles, you can factor the relevant seasons into your travel plans.

Activities on the Water and on Land

Snorkelling in Treasure Beach offers the chance to explore colourful fish and coral reefs; opportunities depend on sea conditions. Hiking and cycling are among the available activities, and boat trips are also part of the range of things to do. There are different ways to explore: snorkelling focuses on fish and reefs, hiking and cycling offer active pursuits on land, and boat trips add another option on the water. When planning your stay, you can choose among these options according to your interests; sea conditions remain a key factor for snorkelling.

Cuisine and Finding Accommodation

The cuisine has its own distinctive touches, too. Dining options in Treasure Beach include farm-to-table dinners and coffee roasted over an open fire. A dinner and a distinctive coffee-roasting method add culinary experiences to the beaches, nature and activities.
