Holiday accommodation in Strilkove

Strilkove lies on a narrow strip of land between the Sea of Azov and the saltwater Sivash. The eastern edge of the settlement reaches the seacoast; the Sivash coast lies to the west. This location shapes the local landscape, but it does not prove that a holiday stay is currently possible or safe. History and memorial sites

A monument to soldiers who fell in the Second World War stands in the settlement. There is also an Avenue of Cossack Glory. Another avenue commemorates the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, participants in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in eastern Ukraine, and volunteers; it opened in 2015. These different memorial sites represent distinct historical contexts and should not be conflated into a single attraction.

Five kurgans are listed as archaeological heritage sites in Strilkove. Their dates range from the 3rd millennium BC to the 2nd millennium AD. This broad time span does not establish a single date of origin for all five mounds. Nor does their listing alone indicate that they are freely accessible to visitors.

Nearby places

About two kilometres to the north is the “Стрелковое” meteorological station. It was built in 1932 and restored in 1953. Three kilometres to the south is the Park of Cossack Glory, established in 2013; its location commemorates the passage of Nestor Makhno’s detachments from Crimea in 1920. Both places are outside the settlement proper.

Blue and black mud deposits occur in the Sivash near Strilkove; the available local information mentions several access points to the shore.
