Dnistrivka appeals to travelers with two very different themes: the Dniester as a river setting for boats and water trips, and a church history with clear dates from the 18th to the 19th century. The connection to the water is tangible at the “Mayak” Yacht Club; at Pokrovsky Church, the focus is on construction phases, architecture, and a former parish school. Which aspect you prioritize may also shape your choice of accommodation.

Water and Boats on the Dniester

The “Mayak” Yacht Club is located on the banks of the Dniester in the Dniester Canyon area; the club has a beach. Its marina has three floating docks and capacity for up to 100 watercraft. Mooring places and suitable docks make trips on the Dniester possible. The riverbank, marina, and river trips are therefore specific ways to enjoy the water that make Dnistrivka an interesting destination for planning your trip.

A report from 2026 describes a water trip organized for Ukrainian defenders that began at “Mayak.” The participants viewed various yachts and boats there, then traveled on the Dniester.

The club offers guests overnight stays in cozy cottages by the Dniester.

Church Construction and Local History

The history of Pokrovsky Church begins with the village’s first wooden church. The local community built it in 1756 with the support of Princess Maria; it burned down in 1883. Pokrovska Church was rebuilt in 1884 as a wooden structure on a stone foundation, in a typically Moscow style. The sequence of dates clearly distinguishes the original village church from its reconstruction after the fire.

The domeless Pokrovsky Church lies southwest of the center of Dnistrivka and has a tall, three-tiered bell tower. If you consider architecture not only by its construction date but also by its outward form, you will find two readily identifiable features here: the absence of a dome and the multi-story tower. Check the condition of the building before visiting.

At the same time as the church was rebuilt, a parish school for peasants was built beside it. Thus, the history also includes an educational institution of the time, whose intended students were peasants.

The Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God is listed as an architectural monument dating from 1894. Its name and date provide another specific reference point for Dnistrivka’s cultural history.
