History
Lipperswil was first documented in 1252 under the name Luimprechtswilær.
Before its sale in 1284, Lipperswil belonged to the Barons of Bürglen. The locality was then sold to the collegiate foundation of St. Johann in Constance; the foundation held lower jurisdiction until 1798.
