Culture and History

In the wider regional surroundings of Sevelen are the Falkenstein ruins, Burg and Rosenegg.

Archaeological finds at Sonnenbühl, Geissberg and Dachsenboden point to settlement between 4000 and 1800 BC. Sevelen has been documented as “Sevellin” since 1160, while the hamlet of Rans was recorded from 842/43 onwards.

In the 13th century, Chur Bishop Heinrich III of Montfort built a castle on the Storchenbühl.
