Fleurier lies at an altitude of around 741 meters above sea level in the western Val de Travers and the southwestern Neuchâtel Jura; there, the Areuse emerges from the Saint-Sulpice gorge. As the crow flies, the town is 28 km west-southwest of Neuchâtel. The local landscape includes a flat valley floor approximately 1 km wide in the western Val de Travers.
