History

Until 31 December 2008, Hämikon was an independent political municipality. On 31 December 2008, Hämikon merged with Hitzkirch and several neighbouring municipalities to form the new municipality of Hitzkirch.

Hämikon is located northeast of Hitzkirch in the Lucerne part of the Seetal region. Hämikon is a village in the municipality of Hitzkirch, in the Hochdorf district, in the canton of Lucerne, Switzerland.

Nature and Trails

A described hiking route runs through Hämikon and Hämikon Berg; the view extends as far as Schongau. Gitzitobel is part of the same route and is described as a hidden natural oasis with a remarkable diversity of plants. It is reported that more than 20 species of orchids are found there.
