Les Enfers: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Les Enfers is located on the Jura plateau of the Franches-Montagnes, south of the Doubs Valley and north of Montfaucon. The landscape consists of moorlands, pastures, fields and forests, bringing together a variety of natural settings within a small area.

The «Bas et haut marais» area includes peat bogs listed in the Swiss Federal Inventory. More than 200 anti-tank dragon’s teeth are also visible in the municipality of Les Enfers.

Hiking and cycling

Les Enfers offers numerous walking paths and a network of cycle routes. The «Randonnée des Energies» hike leads from Les Enfers near Montfaucon to Soubey on the Doubs. East of Les Enfers, its route passes through pastureland.

For mountain biking, the Franches-Montagnes–Clos du Doubs route leads from Les Pommerats to Les Enfers.

Culture

In summer, an evening prayer service and a Mass for the Feast of the Assumption are held at the Oratoire des Esserts. In 2014, two humorous pitch signs were placed along several pedestrian-tourism routes in the municipality of Les Enfers.

Regional discoveries

The «Balade découverte dans les Franches-Montagnes» is a one-day circular route starting in Montfaucon and leading via Les Enfers to the Cerniévillers farm. The organic farm at the estate offers guided tours; afterwards, hikers on the Balade are invited to lunch featuring high-quality organic products from the farm.
