Schleins: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

Tschlin is a well-preserved Engadine village characterized by terraced landscapes. Pra Grond, one of Switzerland’s most valuable meadow-breeding bird habitats, is located near Tschlin. Pra Grond provides a suitable habitat for endangered species such as whinchats, skylarks, tree pipits and corncrakes.

Nature

The circular tour above Tschlin is a moderately difficult 7-kilometre circular hike lasting around 1 hour and 25 minutes. It offers views across the opposite side of the valley and of the terraced landscape outside the village.

On its way to Vinadi, the Via Engiadina passes through Tschlin. The route leads through Swiss stone pine and larch forests, along clear streams and across lush alpine meadows.

Culture

Romansh is predominantly spoken in Tschlin, more precisely the Vallader variety. A still recognizable passageway has been preserved in Porta Nova; it formerly served as the entrance gate to the village. The Church of Blasius was rebuilt as a Gothic structure in 1515.

The Archive of Alpine Olfactory Memories in Tschlin records olfactory memories and makes them tangible. Around ten alpine olfactory memories belonging to different people are archived there. Guests can spray fragrance sprays onto objects or burn incense sticks.

Every year at Christmas, San Plasch hosts a concert by the mixed choir, and on New Year’s Eve, a concert by the local music society. At least twelve films can be seen per year at KINO Tschlin. KINO Tschlin was set up in an old stable and has room for around 40 people.

Culinary

During a guided tour of the GIRUN Alpine Brewery, participants learn interesting facts about hops, yeast, water and malt. The tour ends with a beer tasting offering panoramic views.

Che Chaschöl places importance on regionality and short transport distances and works closely with the tourism industry. At Che Chaschöl, fresh niche products made from sheep’s and cow’s milk are processed every day.

Tschlin can be reached hourly by PostBus from Scuol railway station. Paid parking spaces are available at the entrance to Tschlin. Tschlin has five named fountain squares: «Bügl da Pedvih», «Bügl sot», «Bügl sura», «Bügliet» and «Bügl da duonna Lupa».
