Marmorera is a village and former municipality in Surses, in the Albula District of the canton of Graubünden, Switzerland.

The ruins of Marmels Castle are located above the western end of the dam.

Forest paths run around Lai da Marmorera, and routes lead to high plateaus such as Alp Flix. Alp Flix is known for its biodiversity and small mountain lakes.

Lai da Marmorera can be reached from Tiefencastel or from the Engadin via Silvaplana and the Julier Pass.

The wider area around Lai da Marmorera is part of Parc Ela and includes protected natural landscapes as well as diverse ecosystems.

The lakeside setting combines the turquoise water of the reservoir with the surrounding Graubünden mountains; the lake lies at approximately 1,680 metres above sea level.
