Geographical location

Sévaz is a municipality in the Broye district of the canton of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Sévaz lies 2.5 kilometres east-southeast of Estavayer-le-Lac as the crow flies and extends across a plateau on a broad ridge between Lake Neuchâtel and the Broye plain in the northwestern Fribourg Plateau.

The municipal area occupies part of the ridge that separates Lake Neuchâtel from the Broye plain. Most of the terrain is flat and reaches as far as Champ de Lune and Haut de Champ Bory; the highest point in Sévaz is at Haut de Champ Bory, at an elevation of 500 metres. To the south, the area extends through the Fin de la Râpe forest into the Arignon valley.

For 1997, 90% of the municipal area was recorded as agricultural land, 2% as forest and woodland, and 8% as built-up area.
