A hiking and mountain-hiking route described in the area leads from Reichenbach across the alpine area towards Engelhorn and onwards via Standfluh to Wetterlatte. History

Scharnachtal gave its name to the medieval and early modern Alemannic noble family von Scharnachthal. Its members have been documented since the 13th century; the male line died out in 1590.
