Champ Meusel on the southern slope of Mont Soleil is described as the remnant of a prehistoric meteorite impact and referred to as the largest preserved meteorite impact site in Switzerland.
Saint-Imier lies at an elevation of around 820 metres above sea level and occupies part of the valley basin of the Vallon de Saint-Imier, through which the Schüss flows.
