Geographical location
Meisterschwanden is a municipality in the canton of Aargau in the Lenzburg District, lies in the Seetal valley and is situated on the eastern shore of Lake Hallwil.
History
Meisterschwanden has historical connections with the neighbouring settlement of Tennwil, which was incorporated in 1900.
Until the second half of the 19th century, Meisterschwanden was characterised by agriculture. Later, industrialisation brought cotton weaving and straw plaiting.
The Wohlen–Meisterschwanden railway began operating in 1916. Rail service ended in 1997, and most of the route was dismantled. For travellers interested in transport history, this development forms part of the historical context of the area.
