Tutova – Discover Nature and History

Tutova is documented as an old Moldavian settlement from the feudal period during the reign of Stephen the Great. According to tradition, the first human settlement was a kind of inn belonging to the boyar Costăchescu. In the local place known as “La Stejări” in Bădeana, a centuries-old oak tree stands: people gather under its shade to pray and light candles.

Nature

ROSCI0133 Pădurea Bădeana covers 58.60 hectares. The protected feature of the area includes the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina), an amphibian and reptile species listed in Annex II to Directive 92/43/EEC. Pădurea Bădeana lies between Bădeana to the east and Pogonești to the west, in the immediate vicinity of national road DN 24. As a botanical protected area, Pădurea Bădeana is considered suitable for excursions. History

The archaeological site Aşezarea de la Bădeana-Lot 1-5 (Valea Ţaga) comprises a medieval settlement area dating from the 15th century.

Another archaeological site is called Aşezarea modernă de la Tutova - Lot 1-1. It is a settlement site dating from the 19th century.

The church of Parohia Ciortolom is Orthodox. It is dated to 1864 and is therefore one of the explicitly dated cultural monuments in the vicinity of Tutova.

The railway development in the vicinity of Tutova is associated with a temporary station that was built around 1881. A later station replaced the old one in 1910.
