Sarichioi lies on the shore of Lake Razim. The lake forms the eastern boundary of Sarichioi Commune and is part of the Razim-Sinoe lagoon complex.

Water and Nature
Kayaking trips covering distances of up to 20 kilometres are possible on Lake Razim. Birdwatching is offered and practised as a leisure activity in the area of Sarichioi Commune.
In the wider regional area around Sarichioi Commune lies Popina Island, which has been designated an ornithological reserve since 1963. Sarichioi is also associated with boat trips in the Danube Delta Reserve as a tourist activity.
Culture and History
In Enisala stands the medieval Enisala Fortress. It was built for military purposes in the second half of the 14th century, most probably by Genoese merchants. In places, its walls and bastions are still preserved to heights of 5 to 10 metres.
The medieval Enisala Fortress can be reached via the E87 Tulcea–Babadag road and then via the DJ 223A to Enisala.
The farm museum in Enisala presents a synthesis of the traditional architecture of northern Dobruja from the beginning of the 20th century. The museum includes a house with a storeroom, as well as a stable, shed, kitchen, summer kitchen with oven, dovecote and well.
The farm museum “Gospodăria țărănească conservată «in situ» – Enisala” was scheduled to close from 27 October 2025 because of restoration work as part of a project running from 2024 to 2027.
Traditions and Townscape
The Lipovan women's costume in Sarichioi preserves the structure of the old Russian costume from the area around Moscow and the middle Volga. Lipovan folklore in Sarichioi includes ritual forms associated with calendar customs, important life events and incantations.
In the historic area of Sarichioi, there are Lipovan farmhouses that are more than a century old. The Lipovans in Sarichioi founded the folklore ensemble “Landâș” (“Lăcrămioara”).
Public Life
The Sarichioi market takes place on Sundays. The “Enisala – Unitate la Cetate” festival has been held for several years in August at the foot of Enisala Fortress.
Sarichioi has an old fishing port.
