Comuna Mănăstirea Humorului covers 9,628 hectares, of which 7,653 hectares are covered by forest. Humor Monastery is listed as part of UNESCO’s cultural heritage.
Culture
The Church of the Dormition of the Mother of God at the former Humor Monastery dates from before 1415. The present-day church of Humor Monastery was built in 1530 by Toader Bubuiog and Anastasia. The church of Humor Monastery, founded by Toader Bubuiog, was fortified with a defensive wall whose corners were marked by towers.
The monastery complex included a princely residence or an abbot’s house with a cellar. The church has an open porch with four pointed-arch arcades and no tower. A painting of the Virgin Mary Platytera is located on the vault of the narthex, while the exterior wall paintings depict traditional themes.
The local traditional costume is known as “mănăstirean”. Poiana Micului is home to a Catholic church dating from 2011, dedicated to Pope Saint John Paul II.

The Mănăstirea-Humorului–Cacica hiking trail begins at the edge of the village of Mănăstirea Humorului and follows a forest track along the Țiganca Valley to Obcina Cacica. It has an elevation gain of 400 metres, takes five hours and is marked with a yellow triangle.
The route to Peștera Vrăjitoarelor in Pleșa is considered relatively easy and allows access by car or on foot. The Mănăstirea-Humorului–Cacica hiking trail is considered accessible year-round.
