On the left bank of the Mostiștea, one kilometre south of Măriuța, traces of a settlement from the 4th century AD were discovered in the municipality of Belciugatele. This settlement had been overlaid by a Dridu-type settlement. There is also a settlement from the La Tène period at Matara, near the Mostiștea River, north of the village of Mataraua in the municipality of Belciugatele.

Culture

In the centre of the village of Belciugatele, on the main road, stands the Adormirea Maicii Domnului parish church. Its name refers to its function as a parish church, while its location places the church directly in relation to the village centre and the main road.

Duță Petre renewed the church’s interior and exterior paintings in 1998–1999.

The church has a single-nave floor plan. The only tower is located above the naos. When viewing the church building, both its spatial form and the renewal of the interior and exterior paintings are therefore central.

History

The historical site on the left bank of the Mostiștea dates to the 4th century AD and is also characterised by its being overlaid by a Dridu-type settlement. Another settlement is located at Matara, with its period identified as the La Tène period.

The additional settlement at Matara is located near the Mostiștea River, north of the village of Mataraua in the municipality of Belciugatele. The site on the left bank of the Mostiștea lies one kilometre south of Măriuța.

Nature

The municipality of Belciugatele lies in the contact zone between the Vlăsiei Plains to the west and the Mostiștea area to the east. This geographical classification therefore identifies both the Vlăsiei Plains and the Mostiștea area, together with their respective cardinal directions.

In Candeasca, municipality of Belciugatele, the Valea Iazurilor recreational fishing venue is located; it is also called Candeasca Lake.

Fishing

Candeasca Lakes comprises three fishponds. The fishing options include two fishponds for fishing with fish retention and another for catch-and-release fishing, meaning that the fish are caught and released.

The type of fishing is regulated differently at the three ponds: two bodies of water are associated with fish retention, while one pond is intended for catching and releasing fish. This distinction is directly relevant when choosing the fishing venue.

The grounds include a gravel access road and customer parking spaces. The fishing spots have shelters; there are also spots with huts and specially designated barbecue areas.

Electricity and lighting are available throughout the pond grounds. The facilities mentioned thus range from the access road and parking spaces to the covered fishing spots, hut areas, barbecue areas, and the provision of electricity and lighting.

For a stay in Belciugatele, a holiday apartment in the village can be included in personal travel plans, with travellers deciding on the length of their stay and their daily activities according to their own plans and organising their stay independently according to their own preferences.
