João and Porto de Rei on the banks of the Douro. In addition, a hiking project includes an 80-kilometre route from Nespereira in Cinfães to the Parque Fluvial de Porto de Rei in Resende. Three hiking trails are signposted in the Município de Resende: the PR de Felgueiras, the PR do Vale do Cabrum superior and the PR da Lagoa D. João.

The Serra de Montemuro is part of Portugal’s Natura 2000 network and includes active peat bogs. It is also one of the last refuges south of the Douro for the endangered wolf. Those who prefer to explore the landscape by bicycle will find nine circular routes at the Centro Cyclin’Portugal de Montemuro, with 122 signposted kilometres and 302 available kilometres. The main starting point in Resende is in Felgueiras, with an additional starting point in Feirão. Resende is also shaped by cherries and the landscape associated with them. The Centro Interpretativo da Cereja includes a permanent exhibition and an orchard with several cherry varieties. The Rota dos Cerejais is a circular hiking trail that begins and ends in the village of Senhora da Guia. The 2026 edition of the Rota das Cerejas de Resende, which combined a train journey with an exclusive programme related to the cherry festival, has ended.
