Those looking for a considerably longer challenge will find GR 1 – Travessia das Serras da Peneda e Soajo, a circular, very difficult large route covering 74.500 km with a stated duration of 24 hours. The differences in length, format and difficulty help you tailor your travel planning to your preferred hiking level, without treating all trails as alike.

Landscape and Cultural Impressions

The distinctive landscape includes Branda da Seida, which is partly accessible on foot from the Rouças-Gavieira area. It lies on granite ground and includes grazing areas. With spring water at the Regato da Feicha, a tributary of the Rio Gingiela, groups of round huts with circular floor plans and a wolf trap enclosure, this place displays several characteristic elements within a compact thematic area.
