Another cultural highlight is the Igreja do Mosteiro de Nossa Senhora das Virtudes da Ordem de São Francisco monument. Its ground plan dates from the 15th century; the pointed-arch main portal has late Gothic capitals decorated with floral motifs. The origins of this place are associated with the legendary story of an image of Nossa Senhora appearing to a herdsman at the beginning of the 15th century. This tradition gave rise to a pilgrimage to the site.
