Estômbar's historical heritage also includes the Convento de Santo António ou de São Francisco do Praxel, which was founded at the beginning of the 17th century by Diogo Vieira Boyo. The monastery complex has survived essentially as ruins, reduced to a church. It has a longitudinal rectangular floor plan, a single-nave layout and a quadrangular chancel.

At the Museu da Freguesia de Estômbar, the history of the town itself is at the centre. The museum displays unique pieces donated by local residents. Ilhéu do Rosário, in turn, bears witness to more than three millennia of human presence. Another destination in the nearby area is the Ermida de Santo António: it is located 2 km from Estômbar, and its altarpiece in the main chapel dates from the 18th century. A distinctive cultural highlight is the Festa de São Tiago Maior e Senhora das Dores, which is celebrated on the first weekend of September.

Mediterranean Landscape at Sítio das Fontes

The park covers around 18 hectares and combines several Mediterranean habitats: salt marsh, wetland, scrubland, a small temporary lagoon, abandoned farmland, as well as bodies of water and waterways.
