At Jardim Frutuoso da Silva, two large azulejo panels recount important aspects of Albufeira’s history. The viewpoint offers broad views over the waterfront, the surrounding urban area and part of the coast. The hermitage of Nossa Senhora da Orada is connected with Albufeira’s maritime tradition and the devotion of local fishermen; the Church of Sant’Ana overlooks the town and the coast.

Those wishing to discover historical traces beyond Albufeira will find a castle in Paderne that was built in the 12th century during the Islamic period as a military fortress made of rammed earth and is classified as a national monument. The region’s connection is also evident in its cuisine: Albufeira’s traditional cuisine is shaped by the sea and Algarve produce. Desserts made with almonds, figs and carob preserve centuries-old traditions. The Albufeira Arts and Crafts Centre is also dedicated to promoting and preserving traditional arts, handicrafts and craft skills.
