Spijkenisse is situated on the Oude Maas in a predominantly rural environment. The Wolvenpolder walking route is 3.5 kilometres long and takes approximately 1 hour and 10 minutes. The Stad & Park walking route also follows the Oude Maas for 14.4 kilometres. For walks, the route length and approximate duration are two different planning details. The length describes the route, while the time indicates the timeframe for completing it.

There is a birdwatching hut in Wolvenpolder that is visited by bird enthusiasts. The area is frequented by many bird species. Before setting out on a walk, it is advisable to check the current trail conditions, as they may affect planning for a longer route.
Vogelenzangpark in Spijkenisse is a park with natural areas to explore and Scottish Highland cattle. The park offers views over meadows and ditches. In Vogelenzangpark, the natural areas, meadows, ditches and Scottish Highland cattle are all located within the same park, while Wolvenpolder is associated with birdwatching and walking routes.
De Uitwaayer is located between Maaswijk and the Spui and has been an accessible green area since 2014. Various walking and cycling paths run through the area. In addition to the walking and cycling paths, De Uitwaayer has a BMX track and a mountain-bike course. The different types of facilities are located alongside the paths within the same green area. Before visiting, current local information and trail conditions should be checked for using the BMX track or mountain-bike course.
The electrically powered silent boat IJsvogel departs from the historic Gemaal De Leeuw van Putten in the direction of the polder landscape.

Culture and History
Boekenberg Spijkenisse features a 26-metre-high glass pyramid housing the library. The glass pyramid is also the structure in which the library is housed. The Kunstroute Spijkenisse also has two explicitly designated starting points: when arriving by car, it can be started at the De Boekenberg car park; when arriving by public transport, it can be started at the metro station. For a visit to the route, current information about the respective starting times or dates should be checked.
Theater de Stoep offers a varied annual programme of cabaret, music, dance, youth theatre and drama. The theatre has two auditoriums with seating for 650 and 200 people, respectively. The two auditoriums differ in capacity: one offers 650 seats and the other 200.
The Dorpskerk in Spijkenisse is a late Gothic village church. Its tower dates from the middle of the 15th century, while the nave dates from approximately 1521. The tower and nave therefore belong to different construction periods within the same church. The Dorpskerk is open year-round on Tuesday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; current opening hours should be checked before visiting.
