History, cycling route and regional cuisine

The Mauritsbrug over the Dinkel is a historic site associated with Prince Maurits's attempt to cross the Dinkel with his troops during the Eighty Years' War. A cannon on the bridge commemorates this event. The parish of Beuningen was officially founded on 28 August 1948 under the patronage of Onze Lieve Vrouw van Altijddurende Bijstand. The cannon connects the bridge's historical significance with a visible feature on the Dinkel.

For cycling tours, the 30-kilometre “Mariakapellen en Landkruisen” cycling route runs north of De Lutte through Beuningen and the Lutterzand. It leads to Marian chapels and wayside crosses.
