Blaricum between heathland, art and village history
Tafelberg is the highest point in Het Gooi and has been developed as a viewpoint. The Tafelbergheide is home to clay pits, that is, excavated depressions where special plants such as common centaury, yellow-wort, thyme and rose garland occur. Along the river in De Blaricummermeent, a park offers a colourful sea of flowers and sporting opportunities.

Nature and paths
The adventure trail “Lammetje ontdekt de Gooise heide” has been created for children aged 3 to 6. The trail is approximately 1.5 km long and signposted with stone heath sheep markers. Since 2025, the Tafelbergheide has also had a 1.5 km-long, wheelchair-accessible nature trail. The largely accessible path is half paved, has no steep inclines and can be used independently. It includes a wheelchair-accessible toilet at Schaapskooi Blaricum and an extra-long picnic table.
The Tafelberg and Blaricummerheide grazing area is accessible to riders through a cattle grid and to carriage drivers through an agricultural gate. The Tafelberg and Blaricummerheide route runs along unpaved paths and passes the Goois Natuurreservaat’s Schaapskooi. Schaapskooi Blaricum is located on the Blaricummerheide behind De Eendracht restaurant, Oude Naarderweg 1 in Blaricum.
Village, history and remembrance
Blaricum’s old village, with historic farmhouses, village development, hedges and winding brick-paved streets, has been designated a protected villagescape. The Rosmolen is the last surviving horse mill in the province of Noord-Holland and is one of the very rare combinations of a farmhouse and its associated horse mill. The tower of the Dorpskerk houses the Erfgooiersboom by Blaricum artist Gerardus Lanphen, carved from a large oak trunk in 1971. A 15th-century Pietà can still be seen in Sint Vitus in Blaricum; everyone is welcome at Vituskerk Blaricum.
Blaricum’s war memorial commemorates all fellow citizens who lost their lives in acts of war during the occupation. The Stolpersteine in Blaricum are small brass memorial stones commemorating residents who were deported and murdered during the Second World War. The Historische Kring Blaricum offers guided walks through Blaricum, during which a guide talks about buildings and former residents.
Art and theatre
The Kunstbordenroute Laren & Blaricum passes 16 information boards in public spaces. They display works of art by various artists who lived and worked in the villages. The cycling route of the art-board route “De Schilders van Laren & Blaricum” starts in Laren and mainly follows the art boards in Blaricum.
Piet Mondrian worked in 1917 in the former colonists’ hut of Atelier van Mondriaan; the art movement De Stijl emerged that year. Atelier van Mondriaan is open to visitors only during the annual Atelierroute in Blaricum. To view Atelier van Mondriaan from outside, approach via Schapendrift 75. From Schapendrift 75, it is a three-minute walk to Schaapskooi Blaricum.
Het Theater Blaricum offers performing arts across a broad spectrum, from amateur ensembles to nationally award-winning artists. The historic building of Het Theater Blaricum on Huizerweg was built as a bakery in 1906.
Festivals and culinary delights
The sheep-shearing festival at Schaapskooi Blaricummerheide takes place every year on the first Saturday in June. The annual festival includes a market with stalls and food trucks. Kermisweek Blaricum is an annual, five-day tradition that began as a harvest festival. It includes the annual bareback ring-jousting competition and a lantern procession. Blaricumse Wijnproeverij takes place annually at several tasting venues in the village.
Voorland Beach
Voorland Beach offers opportunities for surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and swimming and is monitored by a lifeguard brigade. The water remains shallow for a considerable distance. There are public barbecue areas at Voorland Beach.
