The forest area of Wouwse Plantage covers approximately 900 hectares and contains various types of woodland. It is a valuable habitat for birds such as the European honey buzzard and the black woodpecker. Plantage Centre and More Than 450 Years of History

Wouwse Plantage has a history spanning more than four and a half centuries. It began in 1504, when Jan III van Glymes, Lord of Bergen op Zoom, commissioned the planting of woodland for timber production. The Plantage Centre includes, among other things, a castle, a hunting lodge and the Prinshenhof forester’s house. The Brandweermuseum displays historic fire engines and firefighting equipment. A visit to the Plantage Centre, including the Brandweermuseum and a sawmill demonstration, is only possible accompanied by a guide.

Natuurpoort and Nieuwe Wereld
