Mills, Churches and Garden Culture

The Nooit Gedacht Mill in Warnsveld has existed since 1850. The Warkense Molen was built in 1878 on a natural elevation in the hamlet of Warken. The two mills therefore differ in terms of their year of construction and local connection. The dates are almost three decades apart and give the buildings a different historical classification.

’t Velde is of cultural, architectural and garden-historical significance. The Overtuin is part of this garden culture. It is accessible during the Opentuindagen from 12:00 to 17:00 and by appointment. A visit to the Overtuin can therefore either be scheduled within this time window or arranged by appointment. When planning a visit to the Overtuin, either the Opentuindagen time window or a prior appointment is therefore relevant. The Overtuin forms the garden-historical focus of this section.

The tower of the Sint-Martinuskerk on the Berkel-and-Warnsveld Route dates from the 11th century. A document from 1121 mentions a church in Warnsveld; however, the present-day Martinuskerk is not this building. Both the tower and an old burial site are located along the route. Its English landscape design and the surrounding moat give this spot a distinctive appearance. The tower is therefore considerably older than the two mills.

Baking Tradition at the Bakkerij Museum

The Bakkerij Museum contains an authentic, fully operational baking oven that is fired by hand, among other things with bundles of brushwood. The traditional firing method is an integral part of the oven itself; the nostalgic shop complements the museum visit with baked goods and regional products. Forest, Estate and Trails

The Kapperbos lies on the built-up edge of Warnsveld. It consists of younger beech forest and birch swamp forest. The alternation between younger beech forest and birch swamp forest remains concentrated on the built-up edge of Warnsveld. The English landscape design and the moat give the old burial site a distinctive appearance.

The Landgoed ’t Velde estate and its surroundings form an area for walking and cycling. The Berkel-and-Warnsveld Route is marked with signs showing black footprints. For walkers, this marking is a specific point of orientation along the route. The black footprints provide a visible orientation marker for walking, while the estate area is also suitable for cycling. When walking, the black footprint is the visual sign of the route; when cycling, use refers to the Landgoed ’t Velde estate and its surroundings. Two forms of transport therefore remain explicitly side by side when choosing a route: walking and cycling.
