There is also an important point to note for orientation: the grounds of the former brickworks in Koppenwaard are currently inaccessible for safety reasons. Rhederlaag for days at the beach and water activities

Rhederlaag has a direct connection to the IJssel. At Rhederlaag, you can swim, relax on sandy beaches and take a boat trip on the IJssel. Rhederlaag is also an official bathing site. During the bathing season from 1 May to 1 October, the water quality is checked regularly. Rhederlaag has visitor facilities such as toilets and showers.

Since mid-2024, the Giesepad has been the official walking route through Lathum and Giesbeek. In summer, walkers and cyclists can also use the pedestrian and bicycle ferry across the IJssel between Rheden and Lathum. Water tourists can enter the Rhederlaag area from the IJssel between river kilometre markers 896 and 897.

Church and historic buildings in Lathum

The church in Lathum has been a Rijksmonument since 1966. The oldest part of the present-day church is the choir. Originally, it was a small chapel dedicated to Mary and belonging to the castle of the Lords of Lathum. The church is open to everyone during services.

Another historic point of reference is Huis te Lathum. It is a historic havezate with a history dating back to the 13th century. Huis te Lathum is also a restored Rijksmonument. Together with the church, the building broadens the perspective on Lathum with a cultural-historical dimension that differs from the lakes, beaches and river landscapes.
