Hoofdstraat 28 in Tolkamer is a Dutch national monument. The listed residential block at Tolstraat 39 also characterizes the town. It comprises six apartments built around 1906 for customs officers; its side façades are clearly visible from the street. During a walk through Tolkamer, Tolstraat can be included as one of the streets with historic buildings. The former post office at Hoofdstraat 2–4 complements this historic setting. The partially plastered building dates from 1872 and was built in the neoclassical style.

Geerlingshof is also one of the town’s notable historic buildings: The ensemble is a Dutch national monument and is located on a terp in Tolkamer. Tolkamer’s former customs office has been preserved, is now used as a hotel and can be viewed from public areas. At the Europakade, the Coupure also tells of the town’s relationship with flood protection. It is a lowered interruption in the flood protection system and can be closed if flooding is imminent.

At the Toeristisch Informatiecentrum 't Gelders Eiland at Europakade 5, you can obtain tourist information and advice on hiking and cycling routes as well as attractions.
