De Essenburgh Castle dates from 1652 and was built by Johan Coolwagen. The main building of De Essenburgh houses a restaurant. This means the site can be experienced both through its origins and through the use of its main building for dining.

The Dorpskerk Hierden originated as a school founded in 1659, which also served as an evangelization venue; in 1741, the building was elevated to the status of a church. The present Dorpskerk Hierden building replaced the previous one in 1851. The clock mechanism in the tower of the Dorpskerk Hierden comes from the former town hall of Harderwijk. This history makes the church interesting for visitors who enjoy tracing local history through specific dates and the tower clock mechanism.

You will also encounter historical themes along the Ooster Mheenweg. Two information boards about Schietkamp Hierden are located there, highlighting the history of the shooting range; they stand beside the Barakken and the Boerenstrandje. At the former German shooting range in Hierden, information boards present, among other things, the stories of pilots Tony Bethell and Ludwig Becker.
