Walking routes, parks and creative trails

DuivenPad is a 6-kilometre walking route featuring interesting information about Duiven. It leads through the Liemers and showcases a different part of Duiven. The route also passes Havezate Magerhorst. The six kilometres give DuivenPad a clear framework for planning the day without presupposing a specific walking time.

Patersbosje is a historic deciduous woodland on the edge of Duiven's modern centre. Park de Nieuweling has a large pond and walking paths. This means you can find different landscapes in Duiven: a woodland on the edge of the centre and a park with water and paths.

Since 2010, Park de Nieuweling has been home to the Kijk- en doeroute, a short walking route with distinctive litter bins, poems and a graffiti wall. The route was developed by pupils from primary schools and Candea College. For families, it combines physical activity with creative and unusual details. Alongside the distinctive litter bins, the poems and graffiti wall provide visible and readable points of interest on the short route.

History and remembrance

Only the octagonal staircase tower of the original house remains of De Magerhorst. Above the entrance is a so-called mezekouw. The two surviving structural elements give the historic site a particularly tangible character.

Outside church services, the Remigiuskerk is open every Tuesday from 9:30 to 11:00 am. Duiven's war memorial is a wooden cross on a circular base made of pebbles and red bricks. It commemorates all fellow citizens who lost their lives through acts of war during the years of occupation. The Remigiuskerk can therefore be clearly visited outside church services on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:00 am.

Family experiences and local traditions

Since September 2006, Horsterpark has had its own fully equipped children's farm with goats, sheep, ponies, rabbits, two Kune Kune pigs, as well as miniature cattle and fallow deer. The wide variety of animals makes the park a natural destination for shared experiences with children. The animals range from goats and sheep to miniature cattle and fallow deer.

Dickens in de Liemers takes place in Horsterpark, a recreational area between Westervoort and Duiven.

Schutterij Onderling Genoegen was founded on 26 July 1896. Traditionally, the shooting festivals take place in the last week of August.
